Allis Chalmers 180 pto conversion

Can I change my 180 Allis Chalmers from a 540 pto to a 1000 pto? Noticed some bolt on shafts (either 4 hole or 6 hole) with both six spline (540) and 21 spline (1000) on either end; however, how would this change the gear ratio?

How could I tell if my 180 has the two speeds you mention. I took the back PTO cover off three years ago and replaced the back seal. That cover has 3 bolts that hold it in place. Would that be the place to look? If it does have the two speeds, what would I need to do for conversion to 1000 from 540?

That whole housing could be, and would have to be changed. The difference is obvious. Single speed had the three cornered bearing cap. Dual speed had the concentric hubs, with the double stub shaft you described bolted to one of them. The internal shaft coming back through the belly of the rear end may be different.
200 and 7000 had the same set up. Maybe even the same part. I don't know.

If it is a 2 speed, the pto output shaft bolts on with a round flange. Unbolt the flsngge snd turn the stub shaft around. It bolts on with anothe set of holes. the speed change is inside the housing.
The single speed shaft runs directly into the housing.

Here is what the 2 speed housing looks like.
