Allis Chalmers 7020 Oil In Water

Hi all, I have an Allis Chalmers 7020 that has some "what I thought was condensation but ended up tasting sweet" coming out of the blow by tube.
Soo I have a problem but don't know to what extent, it runs smooth as a top soo any help please?

Thanks...........

A sleeve oring is more than likely starting to leak. loosen the oil drain plug and see if any antifreeze drains out. Do this after tractor has sat over night. Keep an eye on it for now. If it gets worst engine will need overhaul.

I did crack the plug open awhile back and probably a half tsp came out.
I'm afraid ya hit the nail on the head!
Thanks for the quick response.

Hi dose this motor have a oil cooler on it? If it dose you may need to look at it, if its like the ones on an IH it has O rings in it that are bad. I would sure check into this, it maybe a $5 fix to the problem. Good Luck

The newest 7020 would be around 28years old unless your the original owner and and know if the conditioner has been changed or the coolant has been changed out on a regular basis the damage may already have been done. One other source may be the intercooler leaking but usually causes upper problems. It is unlikely the head gasket is blown and not normally a problem in the 301. This is like doing surgery over the phone. I'm trying to remember if that tractor had an engine oil cooler or not I don't think it did. I would have your local mechanic check it out before it does major damage coolant in the oil can cause major lower end damage quickly.

Oil cooler?, Pull the oil pan and pressure up the cooling system and you will see if it's liner seals. good luck

I did pull the oil cooler off this evening with my hopes up then dawned on me if it was the cooler I should have oil in the water and not vice versa.
Well what's a 7020 worth with this problem?
I bought it last year plannin on upgrading the minneapolis but then got an out of state job so I gave up the farming, so I guess I'll get to tearing into it.

Yea I had an L and was cracked on 4 of the cylinders but it ran horrible, I guess all depends on where it cracked.

Ha just noticed I put oil in water on my subject!
Water in oil...... guess I tasted too much of the antifreeze!!!

you have electralysis problem, sleeves have a hole where two sleeves are close together. a very easy engine to replace sleeves

Well today I pulled Valve cover to check the lttle plugs that are in the head and pulled the oil pan off, pressured the system but didn't see any water.
I have pressured it up again and gonna check in the morning after all the oil gets done dripping.

If its for sale ;Im interested; please email with more info and where you are located ; Thanks !!!!
