Series 1 D17 workaround for pushing snow

I have a trip loader with snow bucket on a Series 1 D17 and like to blade with a rear blade too. Currently in order to use the bucket I need to take the rear blade off to let the hydraulics run the bucket up and down without doing the same for the rear blade. Anyone have a workaround for this? Maybe a bracket to hold the arms up? I am not thrilled about puting an independent hydro pump on the tractor unless I can find one for cheap.

Pretty simple to rig up a way to lock the blade in the up position. Simple take 2 chains and go form the center link to the 3 point hook up and that will lock it up so you can have it on for weight and still use the loader. I am guessing you have a 3 point not a snap couple blade

I put a 3000 psi ball valve in the hyd line to my loader. I can lock the loader up to run the blade. If I need the loader to pile snow, I just unhook the blade.

I cut a piece of 2 inch angle iron just a little shorter then the back cylinder piston, drilled two holes in it. I set this on the piston of the cylinder and put a piece of tie wire through the holes to keep it in place. I use the same piece to keep the loader from creeping down when using the blade. Cheap and easy, just like me.

Yeah that is what I am doing currently but wondered what I could do more to avoid having to take the blade off.

Yes, I am using a 3 point conversion. I attached a picture of the D17 with a small light blade on it. I am using an 8 foot HD King Cutter with more adjustment options now. The setup is virtually the same.

Yep just make up a pair of stay chains to make the blade stay in the up position. That way you have the weight on back but you do not have the problems with the hyds

Factory had a selector valve you used, with proper plumbing, so you could switch from one to the other by moving a lever. Between D17 Op Manual and I&T AC 17 you can get all the details and pics.

I put a diverter valve on my WD.
With the valve in one position the blade stays at whatever level it"s at when the valve is activated and the loader works as normal.
When the valve is in the other position the loader remains at what ever level it was at when the valve is activated and the blade works as normal.
Works very well. I like the blade as a counter balance for the bucket and it is good for cleanup work as well.
I have 4 suitcase weights mounted on the blade for extra weight. I know the valve is rated for only 2,500 PSI but I've used it for years without a problem.
