I have an oppotunity to purchase a rebuilt WD diesel engine (I think) How do I identify it for sure? Also will it fit in a gas tractor? If not what changes need made? Thanks in advance. Gary

Will it fit? Only if you have a lot of time and money. You would be better off buying a WD45 diesel tractor with a bad engine, and putting it into that tractor.

To clarify a bit; the following items are different:
Radiator
Hood
Gauge cluster
Starter
Battery box
Flywheel
Bevel pinion/ring gear
PTO assembly and intermediate gear
Throttle lever
Probably other stuff as well

I have a 57 wd 45 diesel. The frame is also different. it has a bend to make room for the injector pump.

Buy a WD45 with a bad engine and put your engine in it. I had one back in the day, the block was cracked between several of the liners. It is possible an earlier owner overheated it.
