D17 Year

I just bought a D17 diesel and am trying to figure out the year as there is no serial tag. Is there any other ways to narrow down the year and figure out what series it is?

That's right, there is no tag. The serial number is stamped on the torque tube, left side, on the flange part next to where the engine bolts on. It should start with D17. Then look up the number on list on here in left column.

As Jerry said the numbers are stamped in the torque tube. Then look on the left of this page under research and info then serial numbers then Allis then D-17 and see where your number fits
