ok, so it wasnt the pin, the steering shaft snapped off atthe worm gear. Is this the same shaft and gear as a narrow front WC? Or does it have to be a wide front wd45? Thanks to all...Jim

According to AGCOparts book, the shaft is the same. Worm gears are different, but I'm not sure how.

According to the parts book, they only show one shaft in the front pedestal no matter which style front end it is. That part has the same number as the WC shaft in the pedestal. Thats the way I'm interpreting the book I have as well as the on-line book. Best way to check is pull them apart and lay them side by side. If they aren't the same it'd be easy to have a shop make a new shaft.

Aaron, I think I see my mistake....by steering shaft, I was thinking of the vertical spindle shaft, BELOW the gear sector! I understand now, you"re talking about the horizontal steering shaft with the worm gear that drives the gear sector. I was trying to picture what kind of a hit it would take to shear off the big...about 2 inch? shaft that the wheels are on. Yeah, semantics are the key....

Did the same as bmartin5566. Put a WD wide front on my formerly narrow front WD45. Shafts are the same and so are the worm gears. Only difference is the shaft for the hand start.
