wd45 steering need help asap

helping a friend with his wd45, he broke something in the steering, wide front non power steering. steering wheel spins but doenst move the wheels, no broken u joints, shaft is spinning at the steering box, is there a pin on teh worm gear that could have broke? Gonna try to get it in the garage and work on it tomorrow , hopefully.

Yes there is a pin in the worm gear on the shaft going into gear box.

There is also a setscrew (with locknut) on the gear sector that the worm gear engages. Remove the top cover on the steering box casting to check both the pin and the setscrew.

There is a half moon key at the top of the steering spindle and a long square key at the bottom. Shearing either would eliminate steering control.
