D19 Power steering pump

How much Pressure does the belt driven power steering pump put out. Could it keep up to a 8" lift cylinder on a disk or plow?

Put a 2500 psi gauge in the pressure circuit and turn the wheel to full lock. Read the gauge. Remember pressure times area equals force.What is the dia. of the hydraulic cyl? If its a 8 inch dia. then radius squared times pie (not cherry).Example 4x4x3.14 x whatever the pressure reading was will give you force. If its an 8 inch dia. cyl then you need a lot of flow to see some action. So if you have an 8 inch cyl say times 1000 psi you have 50000 lbs of force.

A good D-19 steering pump is worth quite a bit. Sell it and then buy the correct pump for what you are building at Surplus Center and you will likely have money left over.
