If you have a manual crank handle, turn the motor slowly untill the handle is about horizontal and you will hear the magnito "snap". At that point, you look in the hole on left side of the flywheel and you should be at the TDC mark. If not, roll the motor 180 degrees and listen for the "snap" and check again. If you dont see the TDC, then stop a few degrees sooner, or after the snap and check. It helps to have someone else look in the hole while you crank .. by hand.
