Can anyone provide information about replacing a PTO shaft on a WD45?

Just the PTO shaft..???

Take two (2) bolts out under the differential that holds the carrier bearing and take the connecting bolt out of the other end is all you need to do for this..

Yes Ron, I believe, it's the PTO shaft. Approximately 40" long with 6 splines on one end? It broke where the shear pin goes through.

The bolt that is supposed to be used in that front end of the PTO shaft is a special shoulder bolt..

I like to drill thru each end and Safety-wire , so the Safety wire will retain both ends, should the bolt break.
I do that because there is not a lot of room between the bolt and the Transmission case and I feel it is worth the effort to pre3vent a chance of the broken bolt wedging against the case and breaking the gearbox or case..
If you don't use the special bolt for the PTO attachment, be very careful to choose the proper bolt length and diameter..

Ron is the Carrier Bearing referred to as the Coupling? I ask because I've been reading about people having trouble getting the shaft out of the carrier bearing. As you can probably tell I don't have a lot of experience working on tractors, and when ever I do attempt a repair I usually run into something either unexpected or something I need a specialty tool for.

The "Coupling" is at the front of the PTO shaft and is attached with a through-bolt..
The coupling may be tight on the gearbox shaft and need to be worked a little to get it to slip off.
The Carrier Bearing is at the rear of the tractor, under the rear platform, under the rear of the Differential and is attached with only two bolt that are the bottom two that hold the differential cover on..
I cannot tell you how to remove the Carrier Bearing from the PTO shaft..but I think it must press onto the PTO shaft.

Thank you for your help Ron. I never received any emails with messages. There was one but no message was attached. ???? I did compose an email to you and hopefully you will get it. I found a PTO shaft and got the old one off. Much easier than I anticipated. If you find a good used tractor in the the Ozark area please let me know.

One thing to remember if you use rear-mounted tools on your WD is to remove the PTO shaft, if there is any chance of the tool interfering with the PTO shaft.
The AC snap-coupler Sub-Soiler for instance will hit the PTO and break that carrier bearing.
