Howdy to all, I am trying to ID an oldie Allis Chalmers backhoe that am planning to buy. I will be needing either a complete engine or missing parts but have no idea what year or model or ??
Numbers I have are:
1. Left side Engine block= 149-22587R
2. rear tires- 14.9 - 26 / 13-26 on W13 rim
3. Allis Chalmers loader= TS 500 1E705AC
4. frt tires=900 X 16
5. has 4 speeds plus reverse cast on top of trans
I will try to post some pics in hopes that some body can help me ID the thing. Many thanks. Joe r

Tractor is a D14- crooked shift lever, 26 inch wheels, D series styling. SN is stamped into the left side of the torque tube.....where the engine and clutch housing bolt together.

D-14 industrial, with shuttle shift, likely a henry backhoe. Like others have said, Serial # is on torque housing, left side, about an inch behind the motor #, the surface is at about a 45 angle to horizontal.

the motor serial number 149-xxx means it is 149 cubic inches. That motor was used in the later D14, D15 tractors and their industrial counterparts. The slightly smaller motor was a 138-xxx and would be interchangable. You can but a sleeve and piston kit from suppliers. If you need head or water pump you can probably find on e-bay or local vendors to this site or the other Allis site. Just ask for 149 inch motor parts.
