Wd 45 diesel starter/gas

Can a wd 45 diesel starter be installed in a wd 45 gas? Any modifications? Thanks

Diesel starter drive won"t properly mesh with a 4 cylinder flywheel ring gear. It will work fine with a 230 or 262 gas engine.

I've had wd starters rebuilt with 12 volt field coils. and one on a wc pulling tractor. That one has a post on it and uses a solonid and push button start.
