I purchased a D10 A/C serial #7349, 1963 With a L99 loader, 3 point & adjustable wide front axle. It was once owned by the state of Wis, it is yellow not orange. So what is this considered? Like a utility or? How is it different than a regular D10 if any? thanx Dan

Yes that is a factory utility it was just a D10 in 1964 allis called it a I40, Then in 1966 it became the I400.
call me 715 790 2967 I'll give you more info
Joe

Maybe it was a regular D10 painted yellow? The I(industrial)400 would have a heavy non adjustable front axle, under a hard nose(industrial type grill, etc.)
Rear wheels would be fixed as well. I think a direction reverser was possible.
It would be interesting to know how they marked them. Does yours have D10 stamped on the bell housing flange? Or something different?

It has the D10 stamp & the serial number no other stampings. It does not have power adjust wheels. Joe I will be giving you a call. Winched it on the trailer Saturday afternoon & made it home last night & so its still chained down on the trailer. I heard it crying all night, for me to get it running. lol

With an adjustable front axle and fixed rear wheels, it sounds like AC put it together however it was ordered. I think they did a lot of that. Seems that there were no hard and fast rules.

Re: the grill on the radiator, its not the standard 4 screw mesh grill cover found on most D series, appears to be the heavy diamond mesh, with a 1/4in thick framing around that with a few xtra supports. Loader is in the way as I have it 2 ft off the ground to move it around, just pulled the starter, as its junk, so I wont have it running today, unless I give her a pull around the yard............hmmm will need to get some pictures up for you guys, thanx Dan

It could be that the state required their tractors to be yellow. I know Illinois's state tractors were orange for may years.

Those rear wheels are somewhat adjustable, unlike the welded rim/wheel shown in pictures. Maybe the welded rim/wheel wouldn't allow room for the loader frame.
Nice looking unit. Congratulations.

crawled under the tractor & checked those hard to cover spots when painting, scraped where the paint was blistered & seen it was yellow under there also, more pleasant color than the safety yellow it is now. Went through the electrical & gas & found the starter was toast, had my boy give me a pull through the yard & it popped right off & cleared up 5 min later, great feeling after money spent knowing that it is now insured, loader & 3 point worked great. Need to pull the safety cover off the rear of tractor, 4 bolts & have a look see to make sure I have a rear PTO. Handle is there so...?Is there anything that says this is a Industrial. To tell you the truth I would rather sell off the loader & paint it up right as a farm tractor.

Cant tell from the photo, but if the wraparond is made of steel plate and not sheetmetal , then you have a I-40 industrial. Rear wheels look like it, and the loader was a good option on the I-40. I would reconsider painting it orange, unless you get a farm grill and sell the heavy one to someone who needs it.

the sheet metal shroud/nose piece is identical to all other d series I have seen, the grill itself it much heavier, had it running this afternoon should had taken photos when I ran the loader up & down, pulled starter for a rebuild & exhaust manifold for gaskets, so might as well go through carb quick, then will start it back up dial it in & put up some more photos, pulled the rear PTO cover/guard, possibly homemade & yes I was glad to see a splined shaft with very little wear at all. The last owner said it had no PTO, guess he never had the cover off or wondered what the handle was at the rear of the tractor.

Primer on most cast parts was yellow. Since you didn't scratch up any orange, it's just more evidence that it's a factory I-40.
