Well I bought the gleaner F with a A430 corn head and a 13 grain head with a hart and carter. How do you make the head "float" when doing soys? Is there any way to install auto header controls on these? New to gleaner any help would be appreciated.

You need a Robot or similar float control mechanism on the combine, with the cable going down to the header, and the linkage with pads under the header. In the field you punch the header lift control (left lever) down to the bottom so it stays there, and the robot controls height across the field. Works well if adjusted properly and the field is not muddy. Helper springs on the header lift cyl need to be adjusted to help control the degree of float. I spray painted the lift cyl when the springs were adjusted right- easy to reset when needed.

Lacking that, I mounted a steel rod on the thresher housing, ran it through a steel loop in front of the bottom front of the cab, and painted the top couple inches a bright color. On the cab window I put two short pieces of electrical tape, one indicating when the FCB was bottomed out, the other indicating when the FCB was just above the ground. By manually running the header I could keep the bar at ground level, even in dusty conditions when I couldn"t see the cutterbar.

Robot or similar valve system is mounted outside the right cab window....has an adjusting knob on it, and hoses going down alongside the cab.

here what I did -- on mine the ends have short chain links attached I watch them and run the header so there"s a lil slack in the chains , using the header hyd. up and down -- works good

Any ideas where to look for a feeler bar and the necessary brackets, roller, etc. for a 10 foot header? My K2 has the robot but the header isn't set up for it.

I owned an F Cleaner a number of years ago and rigged up the header control to a floating cutterbar by bolting an inverted T that was approx. 6 inches long to the rear top side of the bar for the header control cable roller to run on. If memory serves me correctly I think the metal I used was 1/4 in. by 3 in. It worked well for the 13 ft. head even on terraces as long as I remembered where the sensing mechanism was.

Salvage yard- should be easy to cut longer components to what you need. The feelers on the bar under the header are held, and adjusted sideways, by set screws. FCB top sheets can be cut to fit- they mount on the header with hinges at various guards. I imagine plenty of old FCB"s in Midwest yards.
