Allis Chalmers 440 Landhandler

After Dad bought the farm from Grandad..he upgraded from the MM U and G to a 705. And a few years later he bought the first really "big" tractor for our farm. An AC 440 Landhandler.

Does anyone here still have one of these? Has anyone ever owned one and have stories to tell about their service?

I was pretty impressed...remember after harvest going over the field entry paths where all the equipment came into the fields, with chisels..really bogged down the moline u and g. Even the 705 grunted and groaned. The 440 never twitched.

As far as I can remember it never had to go into the shop, but occasionally the ac would go on the fritz.

Truly a great tractor for that old black gumbo we farmed.

Neighbor had one they were all allis at that time it was a big tractor back in early 70's can't remember to much trouble with it, of course I just got married so maybe other things on my mind LOL.

Good, strong, dependable power. Always heard they had a better rep than later models. Simple was better than "convenience".
