I am trying to figure out what the 3 way switch does on my old 1950 Allis Chalmers B tractor. I know that the middle position is the lights, but i am not sure what pushed all the way in does, or pulled all the way out.
If anyone could help that would be awesome.

Sammy, JC is correct. In addition to that, there is a resistor on the switch. That connects to the "F" terminal of the generator and controls the charge rate of the generator. Your 6 volt system has no voltage regulator or current regualtor... the resistor tries to do that. In addition, it controls the lights.

Jerry is correct for the original Allis Chalmers switch. However the after market switches with the big white resistor are different, same functions, different positions.
