WD45 hydro-pump adj. for loader?

Guys, Recently installed an old allis trip-bucket loader on a wd45 i have, this loader was on another of my 45's a few years back and I had no problems...Now after installation on this tractor I find it very hard to get the loader arms to "hold" they seem to be wanting to raise or fall. I checked the decal on the batt. box and near as I can tell its set for the "hold" position. Any ideas on what im doin wrong?? Thanks, Hoss

It takes a while to get used to where to find the "Hold" position.

Yu should have the system set fot "Hold" and not for weight transfer...

I assume you are plumbed into one of the tractor cylinder hoses..? If you are plumbed into the rear (Remote cylinder) CONNECTION, you will need to adjust that transport valve for "No Delay".

Without the book or tractor right in front of me, I'm working on memory, which is getting more and more dangerous!
There are three 1/4" NPT ports on the hold control valve. Not all of them "hold". I'm thinking the two directly across from one another are the two that "hold". Usually a loader would be plumbed into one of them, but it's something to check.
The hold control valve should hold independent of pump action- in other words- if you know you have the hold control snapping into the detent position, then with the tractor shut off, it should hold. If it doesn't, you may have trouble with the poppet, ball, or seat in the valve.
I don't think the decal on the battery box goes into the link between the hyd. pump control lever and the hold control. You might have to loosen the 1/4" square head set screw on the hold control and adjust that link. Sorry I can't really tell you how. As I imagine you know, your hand lever will be somewhere in mid travel when you're in hold position. But what's important is that the pump is not pumping when the hold control is in hold, because it will just keep right on lifting.
I imagine it's VERY rare- but I had one that no matter what we did, we couldn't get it. Finally I tore it apart and compared the hold control valve to a working one. Sure enough- when the camshaft was pressed into the lever, it was indexed wrong. Pressed it apart, turned it a little, pressed it back together, and it worked. This was a 30 year old tractor, with a loader installation showing up the problem for the first time!

Hey guys, thanks for the help on the loader. It was the transport valve. These transport valves are a bit of a mystery to me, out of the three wd45's i have this 53' is the only one that has a transport valve, so I dont have alot of dealings with em. When I screwed this one "in" then the loader operated as it had on the other tractor and would "hold" and the detent was easily felt when movin the lever up and down the radius.
