I have a Fairbanks Morse magneto on a WD with no spark, how do I check this out? I have no experience with mags so am in the dark. Have replaced wires, points/condenser. The unit "snaps" when turned over but no spark to the plugs. What next?
tks,
dg

Send me an e-mail and which mag you have since there was 2 common ones used on them. I have manuals for both in this computer so I will be able to send you the manual so you will have a clue as to what is wrong and how to fix it. That said bet your points need to be cleaned but with out more info it will be easy to get it out of time

make sure the point is clean and making good closure contact. Make sure the wire is not touching the case (grounded). If still nothinkg, replace the condenser for $6. If that does not work, you coil is bad.-- $50.

I just recently went through that on a case s . I had to order the tune up kit for the mag type distributer and it was special order and pricey ( 65 bucks) Check your points for snap because you may have installed the wrong kit -- good luck

do you know the black cover has to be in time on some of the mags during reassembly ? The two gears have to be matched marked or the point will open as some other time than when the rotor "snaps". Ill post a link for you to read.
