1948 WD hydralics

I have a 1948 WD Allis. Question, does the hydraulics share the same oil as the trans or is the hydraulics oil in the space where the belt pulley gear is located just behind the clutch housing? That space is vented into the clutch housing so that is what I am assuming. Looking for help. Also is there a seal between pulley housing and clutch housing? Thanks
 
You are right. The drive gear for the belt pulley is in the reservoir for the hydraulic fluid. The engine clutch shaft runs from the torque tube into the engine clutch housing. It has lobes to drive the hydraulic pump in the torque tube and a drive gear for the belt pulley in the engine clutch housing. There is an oil seal at each end of the shaft and a bearing in the middle.
The hydraulic fluid is separated from the PTO/transmission clutch/transmission/differential by the rear seal.
Front seal is to prevent hydraulic oil from leaking into bell housing. The seals all leak after some decades.

it was. You wouldn"t happen to know the number or
size of that seal.
 
For the limited amount that I use my WD, I just top up the hydraulic fluid as needed rather than get that far into the clutch.

Del! why don"t you call Welters farm supply at Verona Mo, and talk to the lady that will answer the phone. She is very knowledgeable and probably will sell you the seals and whatever else you need. I recently put a new clutch in my WD45, and replaced the seals, while I had the motor out, I just took the old seals with me, and went to Bearings INC, and they matched them up for me, with CR seals. you might have a similar shop near you! Good luck guy!
