I read in here that my trans. case might have a creeper gear inside. My G with a serial # G 742 has a 3 speed diagram. How would you re-align or get this to work if there is indeed the extra gear there?

Before you start having to take things apart to see if you have it, let's try this first.

It's kind of an un-natural shift to get the shifter in low until you've done it a few times.

Sit in seat, tractor in neutral, grasp the shifter
with your hand, roll your wrist to the right until the lever won't go to the side any more and then push forward. It is quite a bit over and down in it's travel. If there is much wear at all you will think you are going to leave skin on the edge of the battery box.

this is how far off the pattern the shifter is in low one one of mine, if the battery box was on it would be all most rubbing it. Try it several times before you give up, it does take practice!
try this and post back - it you have no luck we'll guide you on looking deeper!

The shift pattern that is cast in the housing only applied to the B and C tractors. 'G' s had a decal with the correct one. All G's had the creeper gear. At least nobody has found one without it yet, to my knowledge.

Joe has it right
I always start to the left and drop it in gear, then back to neutral and jus move slightly to the right and you will find 1st. Then all the way to the right and you will find creeper. You probably are using creeper and think you are in 1st. Like Joe said when you go into creeper the shift lever is much closer to the ground then in the other gears. LOL Bob
