6060 rear lift

I have a new to me 6060. Just ordered a service manual and have not got it yet. The rear lift only works when it wants to. Previous owner never used it at all. What would be some good things to look for besides the control cables which are in good shape. The lift is strong and does not leak down when it works.

If the system hasn't been used much, it most likely has some sticky or just plain rusted moving parts in the lift valve. This is a common place for condensation to collect, especially if the fluid had water in it at some point and parts have not been moved much since. When you get the manual, read through the discription and operation portion of the lift system a few times to get familiar with how things are supposed to work. I suspect the issue is in the governor valve or the lift/lower valve. The governor valve is on the top of the valve body and can be removed easily for inspection. The other is on the bottom, so the valve body has to be removed and turned over to access it. It's not complicated, and with the book you should be in good shape
