AC 303 Square Baler Question

Tried using my new to me baler today after checking all adjustments best I know against OPs manual. Finally got everything working good: tight knots, etc, got a few good tight bales then started getting "banana" bales; i.e., one side of bale packed tight, tied tight but other side seems to be loosely packed thus creaing the curved bales. Rechecked everything and only thing I can possibly find is rakes are running together instead of opposed as I"ve seen on other balers. Would this cause my problem or is there something else?

Thanks in advance for the help. I"m new at this game and always appreciate the great advise I have recieved from those who know from experience what the books sometimes miss.

Hope all have a great day and better tomorrow.

It helps to have a consistent windrow, keeping the bale chamber full on each stroke. The other cause would be inconsistent tension. The side with less tention will be longer. Adjust the cranks accordingly.
