allis C with extra tranny?

No, that was not an AC option. Sherman, Hupp, Everett, Howard, and S&T made after-market units for farm tractors. They were quite popular on Ford-Ferguson tractors, but rare on the AC. You may have found something quite valuable.

Could you post a picture or two of the tractor.?
I have never seen one. I was told several years ago that they offered a creeper transmisson for the model B

Original Allis-Chalmers book by Fay and Kraushaar has some pix and references to an extra gearbox, but isn"t sure if it was something AC tested, or was offered, either for testing or production, by an outside supplier.

I have a 1944 wartime steel rear end WC with the Sherman- bought for $550 on auction. Another auction I saw a "choice" bid for a pallet. Buyer bid $240 and took the Sherman box. Typical price I heard then was around 6 bills.

I've seen a few, mostly on B's, but no reason it wouldn't fit a C. I think they were made by Sherman and fit between the trans and torque tube. They did lengthen the tractor a few inches. Not super rare, but not common either.
