H3 crawler questions

Hi. I usually hang out in the Ford section but ran across an h3 crawler with ripper and loader on it. There are some weights on the ripper too. I don't know how practical it would be but I live on country roads and was looking at it to push snow. I don't have hills and it has what I call rock pads on it. I would love to just put the bucket down and go until I stop it. Would this be a good snow pusher and misc job machine?

What are the wear specs on the rails? Where would I find those measurements? I felt the pins and they are very round and the sprockets are not pointy. Wear on loader looks minimal. It has teeth on the bucket. I would post pics but my computer died and I am down to my iPhone.
Any advice or help appreciated.

I"m sure you"ve heard that any crawler is a money pit.....via tracks. Pins, bushings, sprockets. Specs? check out "crawler heaven.com". Also check out "acmoc". Shows where and how to measure. Pointy sprockets are not good, nor flats on the pins. Yeah, can be turned. Other issue- loader, not a dozer,.....pushing snow? Dozers push, loader buckets....well, they (you) bucket it out. Bucket at a time, just like a farm tractor with a loader. Dozers have angle cleats for tracks, for traction,....loaders have relatively smooth shoes (pads).

Tractor/skidloader with snow blower is better option to keep roads open. Blowing snow away doesn"t leave a windrow along the driveway to drift more back in. Skidloader is a year-round machine.

Having had an H3 bucket machine like you're describing I'd say it would do the job just fine for you. If the undercarriage is reasonably good it can do your work for some time without having to cost you big money. The H3 is mainly a D14/D15 farm tractor with loader but on tracks instead of tires. The traction is awesome unless you're on ice you could put the bucket down with no stopping....the snow just moves off to the sides. For pushing snow you could attach a wider bucket or fit a wide blade on it.

I had a 10 foot wide blade that attached in front of the standard dozer blade on my H3 and it would move snow like nobodies business if needed. Trouble is that it was just soo slow it took all day to get anywhere. A truck with a plow was so much faster I rarely used the dozer.
