off-topic logging winch

Hi this is probably not the right place but could an logging winch on a tractor be used to pull stumps? maybe with a couple of pulleys to increase pulling force? Thanks

Kind of depends on how big the tractor is and how much traction you have with the ground. I"ve got an 8000# Warn on the front of my truck. That winch without the snatch block will drag the Fi50 with wheels locked. I have used it for small stumps but even then I have to tie the rear bumper to another tree or some kind of anchor.

I have used a PTO winch off an army truck on my Farmall H and 300 and Massey 35 and whenever the log I am skidding hits a stump greater than 3" in diameter it always gets stuck. Sometimes with a smaller one it will rip it out.

Thanks, well it's a massey 165 with cab and rar tires filled with calcium, i am pulling stumps with a chain but was considering about a logging winch since I guess it would be faster and easier on the tractor clutch/tranny the reason i am posting this here is because I have 2 WD-45 allis and always had great help from you guys, thanks alot
