Hello I was inspecting the dist drive and noticed the drive housing is adjustable is this to set drive gear clearence? or timing? and what should I use for lube grease or oil? thanks

If your talking you can adjust it counter and clock wise that is for timing. As for the lube simple engine oil works just fine

Is there a timing mark anywhere, book says 30' seems like to much? So dist toward block would be adv or ret? thanks for the help

30 degrees advanced is correct, that is at full throttle and the mechanical advance (inside the distributor)working. There is a timing mark on the flywheel but I have never found it yet on mine. The rotor turns clockwise so if you turn the dist. clockwise you retard the timing and counterclockwise for advancing it. If you have a tachometer for tuning......run the engine at idle...advance timing to where the rpm peaks...then back it off 50 rpm... if it runs to your satisfaction tighten the dist. at that setting. I've done it in older automotive application and had it come out at factory setting. One of these days I hope to find the marks on my WD flywheel...LOL.

my main question is the adjustable dist drive assembly either towards block or away, Ido not see how it would change the timing? thanks
