hi can anyone tell me how to adjust the external thrust bearing on a 6080 allis chalmers. i am having trouble with my clutch disengageing.

It's been decades since I installed them. All I recall is measuring the engine thrust freeplay, then shimming the external bearing to the proper clearance. It's only thousandths of an inch, not enough to affect your clutch operation.

You better get to the external thrust adjustment before you need.. first rods and second a crank. Your AGCO dealer has the "instructions", including the shims and proper calibration. I bought a 6080 a few years back. It had problems going into neutral on a slight grade..with the nose up. I could move the front pulley..back and forth quite a bit. My out of adjustment was just shy of needing new rods... re-shimmed to factory spec, with shims from AGCO, and now the 6080 shifts easily and in all situations. If your AGCO Dealer balks at your request, call Sandy Lake Equipment.. north of Pittsburg.
