stuck motor on a 190

Hello, im interested in a 190 a guy has for sale near me, motor is froze, he want s 1500. I need a tractor to run a irrigation pump, and small sq. baler. Is 1500 in the right price range?

Gas or diesel??? In my area the 190XT at best brings around $2500 in good running shape. So unless that has very very good tires and a cab etc seems a tad bit high. But again being gas or diesel makes a difference also and if diesel and stuck could well cost a grand or more to fix since the injector pumps on them are known to get bad seals which is turn locks up the engine and the cost to rebuild can be $800 plus

Is it a 190 or 190XT? About 30 hp difference in the two. Also, Series III had the heavier rear end......some I and II were updated.

I"m not sure if there is a difference in axle size. I understand it"s something about going to a 3 cluster gear in the finals instead of a single. All I know for sure is that it should be looked in to on the XT, cuz of the higher HP. Maybe hard to find a dealer that would still know.

No the pump being a rhooser master pump it does not lock up but the seals go bad dumping raw diesel fuel in the cylinders which is turn thins out the oil and that in turn causes the engine to lock up. BTDT on a 190XT. Cost me a tad over $800 the have the injector pump rebuilt. In the mine time I pulled the injectors out and filled each cylinder with turpentine and let it sit a few days. Then I set a big 12 volt battery on and hit the starter button. My big mistake was to leave the injector sitting in the engine but not in tight and I had to chase 2 or 3 of them because that engine spun over. Installed injector pump bled the air out and she run like a dream. Sold it because it was way to much tractor for 44 acres of farm

One of the big problems with the early 190s and 190XT was a weak transmission and they would jump out of gear and the fix cost more then the tractor was worth

Thank you for explaining that to me. i thought i could get him to go down.on the price cause he's had it for awhile. and just fill the cylinders up with atf or diesel, maybe if I by it I'll try turpentine.

I saw that one....looks like it has sat awhile and is missing some parts. Tough to tell how the tranny is when it isn't running....I'd consider it a parts tractor.
