I pulled apart my oil pump to rebuild it, but didn't pay any attention to which way the beveled vanes were facing. They need to face in the direction of travel, but I don't know which way that would be. Can someone help me?

So you eat soup with the spoon upside down with the spoon bevel moving up ward?

To think as to which the pump turns you could start with a hand crank and as you turn the crank you turn the crankshaft gear the same direction. With the camshaft gear driving off the crankshaft gear it would be turning the camshaft the opposite direction. With the crankshaft turning clock ways and the camshaft turning counter clock ways and when you stand to the back of the engine you find the camshaft turning clock ways at the back. With the oil pump being driven by a pin thru the camshaft clock ways you might conclude that the oil pump would be turning clock ways also. If you place the vanes with the sharp side going forward that picks up the oil rather than the bevel side which would tend to ride over the oil it should do well.
