Just had a case of Fram C159 oil filters given to me. Question is does the wooden dowel in the center stay in place, or should it be removed before installation? The old filter,(Car Quest) did not have one. Thanks. |

| Yes you pull that wooden dowel out of it will not go on. On many A/C tractors the filter fits down over a oil tube that goes in place of that dowel and the dowel is there to hold it open till installed on the engine |

| You need to have the tube to get proper oil pressure. Bob |

| And that tube has been known to work loose and get thrown away with an old filter! So make sure you've got it. |
