Belly mower

I have a mid mount sickle bar mower that I have just fitted to my AC "C" tractor, the drive pulley on the PTO does not align up with the pulley on the mower, I guess the "C" is a few inches longer than that of the "B" so I will need to modify the brackets in order to make it fit, is this normal ?
Also the knife guides are missing does any one know where i can purchase a set

The B & C are the same length.
The difference is the final drives are wider, but they use the same transmision, PTO, etc.

Send me an -mail and I will send you the manual for that mower. As for that pulley if like the ones I have seen on them they can be moved in or out to line up then be locked in place with a set type screw or at least the 2 I owned where set up that way. As for parts those are common parts and most any farm and home have the guards and sections

hi Old
Thanks but you already sent me the manual some time back
The pully is already adjusted to its maxamum and still agood two inches short, the mower came off a b so i know it should fit, only option i see is to modify the brackets, i am away at present outherwise i would have taken a picture for you to see.
I am guessing the pto on my c is not origonal but off another model perhaps·
To be honest the tractor has always been a bit of a mystory, its definetly a c as i also have a b, the serial number showes its a british built AC but i cant find any evidance that Cs were built in England, i am guessing that during the war the USA sent the parts over to England and we put them together, so its possible the USA sent what ever was available hense a British built C probably sold as a B with a wide front
Its got a british rad and mag, but thats not to say they are origonal, and its also possible that the gear box is not origonal but taken off a British built B·········· i guess it will remain one of lifes mystories ¡¡¡¡¡

Measure your PTO shaft and I will then measure mine and compare. You may have one some one cut off or broke off and then ground down to make it look right. I have 1 or 2 of those PTO units from my parts Cs if you find you need to replace what you have. On my sickle mower I had to make a pulley for it since the factory ones are no longer available

I think I have found the solution, rather than modify the brackets to bring the mower back to allighn the pully i can machine an adaptor to fit between the pully and the shaft on the mower, its possible there was one there origonaly which would explain the miss match, but it does not show one in the manual.Broken PTO shaft would not be the issue as its the shaft on the mower that is not long enough not the PTO shaft thats two short.
By the way I dont know if you remember but we had a disscussion back in the summer about fitting a diesel engine to a "C" well i have obtained a Perkins P3 and have now modified it to fit, I managed to find an old perkins diesel engine (scrap) off an AC B (they produced a few in the early 50ties) not many and they are very rare to find, i have taken the sump, oil pump, fly wheel, clutch, and bell housing off the junk AC engine and fitted to my new Perkins P3 so its ready to install, but i need to wait for better weather.
I will post pictures when i finaly get it done.

Just reading your discussion and a question came to mind. What is the diameter of your pto shaft? Reason I ask is that I have an adapter mounted on one of mine to convert the early 1 1/8" shaft to a 1 3/8" shaft which would move the pulley rearward on the machine. This may apply in your situation. Just a thought.

Thanks Dave, i also have the adaptor , but its the other direction i need to go, the pully on the mower is to far forward, extending the pto shaft will only add to my probllem, i need move the pully on the mower in a backward direction.
Many thanks

Wish my belly mount was at my farm instead of my partners I could look at it to be 100% sure of this. Aren't those pulley's the type that you add or remove shims to make then bigger or smaller?? If yes maybe to need to put the extra shims behind the puller half's so as to push it back wards some
