7060 TACHOMETER

The tack is reading low, and at idle reads about 50 rpm and at full throttel, sometimes, 1700 1800 I know the tack is pulsed from the alternator. I looked up in the archives and it seems the ideas were to clean the connector at the tach. so I'll do that, and clean the terminals at the alternator also. Was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem before. thanks....

I only reply as I see you're not getting anywhere yet. Problem is my info./memory is 35 years old.
I still remember when the boss came out with a grin on his face and handed me a small suitcase. When I opened it I lit up too! It was an electronic thing with gauges, buttons, lots of pigtails, and instructions. It was for testing Gleaner modules, etc. Seems like it would check out some of the tractor modules and gauges.
All that to say that if you have access to an Agco/Gleaner dealer, maybe you can get the tach. checked out, and know something for sure.

Had that problem with the 7010 cleaned plug and contacts several times. The last time it quit I put a reman alternator on and replaced the spades in the plug has not bothered so far.
