Anyone know what the correct lenegth is for the top mounting bolt for a Fairbanks magneto on a Model B tractor? I have the little clip, the tractor is not here to measure.

Exactly I can not say but it will be around and inch. It will be the same as on the distributor set up also. I might could go out and look at my C to be sure but it is cold out LOL and I am to lazy to just run out there. You figure the flange it goes in is about a 1/2 inch thick so another 1/2 inch of treads to hold it. If you going to buy a both I would just buy say a 1/2 , 3/4, 1, and 1-1/2 and the you know you have the right one and at around $2 a pound you could buy a lot of them. I buy bolts by the pound that way 1/4 inch all the way up to 1/2 inch and I buy say 3 pounds of mixed lengths so I then have them on hand when I need a bolt

Old,

Where do you go that you can still buy bolts by the pound. I usually go to ace hardware or Fastenal and they have them priced by type of bolt.

Orchelans has them by the pound as does TSC and other such places. Ya now days getting harder to find them that way. Orchelans has them for $1.99 per lbs and if you go in on Tuesday you can get a military discount if you are a vet and on Wednesday you can get an old fart discount if your over 50

Rural King still sells bolts, washers, cotter pins and lag screws by the pound.
