D15 Steering Box

I just purchased a 1968 (i think) Allis Chalmers D15. The previous owner removed and dis-assembled the steering box. When they put it back together it will only turn properly in one direction!!. Turn it in the other direction and it 's very difficult. Anyone have solution???

You get to take it apart and learn what it's made of! I've never been into one.
Many power assisted steering systems count on a precise adjustment. There will be a threaded portion in there. Picture a nut on a bolt. As one is turned, it draws the other up or down. That motion is used to activate a hyd. valve. It has to be very subtle, and precise, as you can imagine, for the power steering to kick in as you start to turn the wheel, in either direction!
