Number of Tractors

Hard to say for sure since many where painted that way for the road depts of different states. I have heard of most all the brands having that done for the state depts.

as mentioned, the highway department and rail roads both bought yellow tractors. If you want to know how many, its just someones guess. If you want it know if it is "rare" or worth more, no it is not.

Which NAS was that at??? I was on the JFK out of Norfolk VA NAS but I know there where other NAS around the U.S.

Old we've been through this before--I flew on Super Connies, you were on BIG JOHN. You were at NOB, I was at Chambers Field--- Good to hear from you my friend ! Bama.

I forgot to say that the G's were yellow and what I think were WD's were blue. I wasn't really into AC tractors at that time, being distracted by skirts,so I may have my facts skewed.

Hey part of getting old and also a few beers under the belt. If I could remember say 75% of what I learned over the years I could probably write a book and be rich in $$. From what I understand all Naval air bases where called NAS but then they added things like Oceania or Norfolk etc to give a person an idea as to where it was. I do know I sure hated the one close to Damneck VA because of the fly overs and all the noise

Not tractors but Ac 45 graders

The parts book for the "Forty Five" (supercharger model) lists Persian Orange.

The Australian version of the "45" (10000 engine) was Allis Chalmers Yellow. No idea if this was an Oz specific colour.

Roger that ! I mean all of it, the memory-beer- duty stations, etc.etc. You are probely thinking about the Master jet base Oeacina ,or NAAS Fentress. Both are near Damneck.I never thought much of those flying blowtorches, real airplanes had four propellers.

It was Oceannia that I am thinking about. My first house that I bought was in VA.Beach and was just an old mobile home but it was my mobile home and it was real close to the flight path of the jets coming and going and boy did they rattle that mobile home a whole lot. LOL. Payed $1900 for it and sold it for the same price
