i removed the side cover on the tranny, and looked at the shifter forks and gears i noticed that the slot looks like its rounded out is this gonna be a problem down the road or do you think that it'll be ok the way it is. ive got the whole tractor torn apart so nows the time to fix it if im going to do it. also what would let the shifter spin around in circles. when u throw the shifter from 2nd to 3rd if your not pulling it straight the shifter will spin in the direction of your pull, it also will do it from 1st to reverse and forward as well. thanks for the help!

I might fill in that wear with a little bronze, or weld. But if you're not able to, I doubt it will matter much. The shifter is not pinned, and you can spin it all day long!

The C I pulled with for over ten years had a shifter the spun and never caused a shifting problem.

thanks guys, filling it in with weld wont be a problem, i have the tractor tore down to just the rearend sitting on the rear wheels, i was cleaning the face where the torque tube bolts on and the whole setup spun backwards and the gearshift caught the peice of plywood i had underneath the tractor once i got it rolled upright i checked the shifter and opened the access point the shifter then spun like i described. it hadnt before this. i now have pipe stands under the front and rear preventing this from happening again. the kickin the butt is i had them all along and just wasnt using them.
