C manifold Muffler bolt'' removal?

Hey fella's Im wanting to remove the bolt in the riser of my C manifold that holds the muffler. Man this thing is petrified in there! I tried heating the bolt cherry red and letting cool back down and didnt have any luck. Im currently givin it a drink of PB blaster every couple days and lettin her soak. I got the muffler out and there is some threads sticking thru into the inside of riser and im spraying that end also. Any other ideas-advise? I really hate to twist this thing off. Thanks, sincerely, Hoss

Heat it up again, and as it cools, melt a bees wax candle, into the threads. Then take an impact wrench, and try tightening, just a little. then, if it moves, a little, reverse direction, working back and forth. Sometimes, they break in spite of all efforts.

Well as I say all the time ATF been proven ATF is far better then most oils to unstick things. Even been a couple people that posted a chart proving it. Heat it up real good then pour ATF on it and do that on and off say once a day for a few days and then try. But on a manifold due to the heating and cooling all the time it may never work and if so then you have to do things the hard way and drill and tap etc.

I'm also a believer in bees wax, plus whack it with a hammer before tightening it.....anything to get it loose.

If it's like a B manifold, the bolt just goes thru the manifold and muffler. If you can't get the nut off, saw thru it and drive the bolt to the inside. I filed the hole square and used a stazinless carriage bolt with a good coating of never sieze. No more problems.

I never had any luck of getting the nut off. I make it a coupla minuite job with an angle grinder. Grind it flush to the manifold and punch it in. I then tap the hole and screw in a bolt for a plug and tap the exhaust to 1 1/4" pipe thread, screw in a nipple to slide a muffler over and never mess with bolts or leaking again.

Guys, thanks so much for all the replys, so am I to understand that the manifold isnt threaded or tapped? There is no nut on the inside when I look down into the manifold just the threads sticking threw. So im taking it that if I cut the bolt off flush on the outside of manifold I can knock it on threw? I will give that a try. I did not know that it wasnt threaded threw the manifold. Thanks again fellers, Hoss

If it happens to b a CA manifold it would be threaded. Hard to tell what has been done over the years. It should look like this for a B.

Dick, thanks so much for the photos,I believe its a "threaded" manifold because it is in fact my CA i was talking about. Sorry for the mistake but I got a "C" im working on also and misstyped the model. thanks again. Oh and by the way you was correct on the posting I had a few days back on the "C" oil drip at the diff. The studs were the problem! thanks so much, sincerly, Hoss
