Dick an Old feel free to jump on in, I went threw this C last winter and after using it some this past summer have found a "leak" i missed and need some advise...The leak is a persistent oil drip right where the finals bolt to the differential,would this be the seal in the carrier housing? It is forming right between the bolting flanges and shows up every couple days. Im guessing i need to pull the final assembly but wanted to be sure before tearing back into it. Old i have the intertec(I&T) and have been lookin at it,thanks. And Dick thanks so much for suggestion of checking out the studs,this is why I value your fellers advise so much it can save a guy alot of work.I know you have been into about everything on these lil machines! Dick L 12-09-2012 10:42:15 50.51.177.167 Report to Moderator	Re: C Final drive assembly oil seal? in reply to Hossman, 12-09-2012 09:36:38   Unless you are plugged from the brake bands to the transmission the oil from the seal should drip out of the hole below the brake bands and not the flange. If it is clear of trash then my guess is that it is coming from a stud. I would try to remove the bottom studs one at a time and put sealer on them. You might have to buy a coupla jam nuts and lock them fast to each other to turn them out without damaging the threads. Jam nuts are thin nuts that would let you put two on in place of the one that is on it now without being tight against the flange.   [Reply]  [No Email]

I have never had to go into the rear end of any of the Cs I have had over the years and that is just because it is one of those if it isn't broke don't fix it things. All I can say is look it up in your manual and you should see if it has a seal that maybe bad or some such thing   [Reply]  [No Email]
