I started pulling the engine on my WD45 today, so I can put a new clutch in. Am following the IT manual instructions, which leave a lot to be desired. It told me to remove a pin from the steering shaft u-joint, but didnt say that the distributer & coil would have to be removed to access the darned thing, or that the pin would have to have the riveted end ground off, before you can punch it out. Also that you cannot get a grinder in between the frame rail and engine, to grind it. I will replace it with a split roll pin, when it go'es back in. Tomarrow morning I am going to use the torch on the head of the pin, so it can be punched out. I guess Allis was afraid that the radiator and grill would fall off, being as they used 1/2" bolts, to hold the unit on with. I expected 3/8" or 5/16" bolts! To remove the coil, and distributer, I took a shortcut, and instead removed the govener, and dist as a unit, which I am sure will come back to bite me in the butt, upon reasembley. Just warning you folks that I have a good chance of being on this forum whining in a couple of days.
