WD transmission noise

The WD I bought has a noisy 2ond gear. I assume this is the gear that got the most use in the field. So is it most likely a worn gear, or is there something else that would make only 2ond gear noisy? Thanks.

Very typical for WD to howl, especially in second gear. They are straight-cut gears, not like the angle cut gears like in a WD45.

In dads 51 WD had to replace 2nd gear because it got to making lots of noise. For seven years that tractor did everything. Even had to cultivate corn three times. With dad and two boys it never got much rest.
