WD oil pressure issue

I changed the oil and filter. Before i changed the oil it ran near the O. or R. in normal, but after it just goes up to the middle of N. Pressure does register on the gauge. I am running 30 weight, thanks.

I can't remember for sure but I think the ones with a paper element are bad and the cotton type element are good. I use the Fram C159 filters, cost about $5 at Fleet Farm and haven't had a problem.

Unscrew the filter and see if the little pipe is still in the center of the filter housing. Sometimes they come loose and get tossed with the old filter.

That tractor as with many of the old A/C tractors need to correct filter or you have little or no oil pressure due to the fact they use the filter as away to cause the pressure to be higher. My self I use the wix57011 filter. Also make sure when you removed the old filter it didn't pull the oil tube out with it that also will cause problems. That tube likes to stay inside the old filter so check your old filter for the tube staying in its center

I checked the number on the filter, its 7011. I remember there being a tube sticking up when i put the filter on. I may just have to try another filter.

Ya the incorrect filter will cause you to buy a new engine or rebuild the one you have. Many filters will fit but many are the paper type that have no back pressure to them so you then have little or no pressure and no pressure equals lack of engine oling

Trista, the NAPA 7011 is correct. I use WIX filters on mine and run around the M on the gage. Another thing I do is I fill the filter with oil before I install it. It helps build pressure faster.

the wix filter 57011 and the napa filter 7011 are both made by wix. if you have any wix number then delete the first number and you have the napa number the oil pressure is dependent on the filter restriction. higher the restriction the higher the pressure. you could disconnect the feeder line to the filter and install a meter to the line and get a lot more realistic number of output but still may go to zero when running the filter if not correct.

Lower pressure with new filter sounds normal. Somewhere in my owner's or shop manual it says that it will show slightly lower pressure until the filter builds up some restriction with crud that it traps from the oil.

Mine did that too. Sacred the poo out of me for a bit. I think after about 5 minutes the pressure came back up to where it normally runs. I didn't do any more with it than a moderate idle untill it came up.
