D14b Lubricants

I just picked up my first old tractor, a 1958 D14 (gas engine).
It runs great but I don't have records when the last maintainance was done so I would like to start out by new lubricants in it from front to back.
I have the original oqwners manual and the suggested fluid and capacities but I wondered if with all of the new lubricants available today (high mileage, synthetics, semi synthetics, addatives) if there was anything better for an old engine.
Any opinions?

your brand of 10 w 30 motor oil , hytrans or universal tractor fluid for the hydraulics and transmission, and gear lube (80-90) or 75 W 140 for the two final drive cases. Dont need synthetics, not worth the money.

first thing to do is buy you a repair manual for the tractor, perfer one that will tell you the operation of the tractor, plus fluids, maintenance items.

fine old tractors, but as with all tractors, they have some drawbacks and odd ways about them.

biggest drawback to D14 is going to be your lack of power clutch, AC clutch will work fine for AC equipment,

but my old AC D14 did not like to change direction (forward/reverse) with the bushhog pto running. this made changing directions a bit hairy.

just keep going forward and its not a problem.

good luck and be carful

((((((my old tractor D14 would start in gear, other makes had a ingear shutoff so they would not start in gear, this little item can be very dangerous))))))))!!!!!!!!!
