from the information I have it would appear that the wheatland model was built for a brief time 1959 & 1960. The distinguishing characteristics other than what is obvious from your picture is a swinging drawbar and a silver grill and black boarder bars and carrying the orange wheels into the 1960 model year. I doubt the tractor is worth any more than other D17's of this vintage, except perhaps to a collector who wants to round out his "stable".

No its factory, just not many where sold with wheatland fenders from what I can find. Some guys are saying they are rare out there.

The wheatland or "western" tractors were indeed built in 1959 and 1960. Almost all were painted with the persian orange #1 and had the bar grill. There were a couple built as series 2 machines that were on display at a dealer meeting. As of this time the these have not surfaced. The rumored number built is 200 although there were not any official records to say exactly how many were built. I do have a registry of these tractors and there is about 30 known at this time. They have sold in recent years and for a larger amount than a regular D17. I would like to know your location and the serial number for the registry if possible. Please call me a 563-419-1736.

Thanks
Jim
