The very basic answer is you should buy the OPERATER manual for any tractor you buy. Tells you way more than fluid levels in each compartment........ |

Thank you for the basic answer. I have already purchased the OPERATOR and SERVICE manuals for every part of the tractor. The manuals are NOT very basic and did not answer the question. Yes it takes 22 quarts, but should I see those 22 quarts under the fill cap? If this forum is not proper for my questions, can someone at least give me the name and number of someone in the Northeast US that services the 5020 FWD?

This is the right forum. I would say fill to the level plug, but not having experience with that particular model, and If no one else posts on it, try the post over at the unofficial allis forum. Another source would be an older Alis-Chalmers dealer. Not sure if Sandy Lake equipment, in Western PA could help, or not.

Thanks Diydave. A wonderful service guy at Sandy Lake in PA answered everything. The loader arms should be at driving height. Fill until at level of check plug on side. The area below the fill cap on top will normally be very low. Added 2 pints and everyting works perfectly again. For extra measure, clean the strainer in gas.

Those guys at Sandy Lake are good people. Too bad Agco shafted them out of being a dealer. They know their stuff, and can still get most parts for older Allis Chalmers tractors.
