Is it possible to change the front and rear crank seals from the bottom when engine in tractor?
Also is the grease zerk om the belt pulley for seal purposes only?
As you can tell Im not an allis man,
thanks in advance!!

Not really. Front crank seal could maybe be done, but the rear is a 2 piece with the bottom half in the rear main cap and the top half in a casting behind the flywheel. Pan seals can be done, but to do them right I seem to recall the front and rear caps need to be lowered to add a piece of gasket. Zerk is probably to lube the bearings in the shaft.

You can not replace the rear crankshalf seal with out removing engine. you can do the pan gaskets, but the best way is too take the motor out and do it right, not that hard to take motor out. the pan gaskets have to be put in in a special way other wise you will end up with leaks. Vick the motor repair man at the allis chamlers factory showed me how many years ago. you don't cut on the gasket and you don't add to the gasket. If you want further imformation, email me.

Many times, what looks like a rear main seal leak is actually oil from the Hydraulic reservoir getting through a bad seal..
The seal will go bad, if oil is not kept in the hydraulic reservoir, to lube that seal..

Years ago there was a method posted here to replace the rear engine seal on a WD/WD45- would work the same on WC, WF. Involved a couple plastic half circles and a bit of wire. I printed out the pics- check archives for the procedure. Front crank seal is easy- just pull the front cover, replace the seal and be careful to center the cover on the shaft before tightening. Re zerk on the pulley- IIRC only the older tractors, like WC, had the zerk on the end of the shaft. IIRC it lubed the outer end bearing. Don't remember if the WD45 had the zerk.
