WD45 Bushings

Does anyone sell replacement bushings for the foot clutch and hand clutch? I have a lot of play in both levers.

There isn't any bushings. You have to live with the slop or have the pedal or handle bored bushings made and fitted. Usualy the shaft is worn about as bad as the clutch pedal, same with the pin for the hand clutch which can be a real pain to get out of the transmission case.

Copy & Paste from my post on this issue from the "other" forum....

Hand Clutch: McMaster-Carr part number 2868T192; Bronze SAE 863 bushing 7/8" ID & 1" OD, 1.5 inches long. Cut it in half and drive half in each side as the pivot is 2.125 inches long. You can get the hand clutch lever out with some wiggling w/o messing with the frame rail.

Foot clutch: No bushing originally (at least not in my 1956 WD45). I bought a 1 1/8 in drill bit and drilled out the clutch pedal pivot. McMaster-Carr part number 2868T201; Bronze SAE 863 bushing 1" ID and 1 1/8" OD, 1 inch long. The pedal pivot is 1.75 inches long so cut a 1/4 off one and drove them in, one from each side. I took the rear of the left side frame rail loose to get the clutch pedal out. Later I realized I think I could of just pulled the pivot pin out from the right side (that also has the brake pedals on the right side). If that pivot pin is REALLY worn you might consider replacing it as well. (as Butch mentions)

While neither was perfect after replacing the bushings, it cut about 90% of the play out compared to what I had and I was more than happy with that result. Good luck! Mike

Any small machine shop can help you prob reasonable price too, What I do is weld up the shaft where it is worn, Then the guy I take my stuf to turns it back down to right size and bores the pedals out then puts a bushing in to resize. After that good as new.

Hmmm, They must have changed the hand clutch lever at some point? I have only fixed the slop in 2 early WDs and neither of those had ever had bushings in them,, at least there was no trace of them left.

My 45 has 2 bushings in the hand clutch. There are also two bushings the handle for the hand clutch throwout if I hit a rock.
