'39 model B axle

I"m trying to get the spindle arms off of the wide front axle on my model B. After removing the 4 bolts & letting penetrating oil sit overnight they won"t budge. I"ve now tried heating them & attempting to press them apart with a 5 ton bottle jack & still no luck. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Gary

Yea Ted, it's the adjustable wishbone style axle. I've removed the 4 bolts involved. Just can't get them to seperate. I guess that 73 yrs. of field dirt & rust have frozen them in place.

I ended up on one making wedges and blocks that I put upside down under my 50 ton press to force them to move. I removed both sides to clean so they have a chance of moving in the future. I'll get them cleaned up and put back together some year.:)^D It was a winter project last year so maybe a this winter project to get the pieces rust free.

Thanks for the info. gentlemen. After using up two small oxygen cylinders (small torch) I took it to a machine shop who used a very large commercial torch & a portable hydraulic ram. One came out relatively easy. So after binding the ends of the wishbone axle so it wouldn't spread apart & TWO tries with the torch, the second spindle arm came free.

Now I have a better appreciation for the holding power of 73 yrs. of field dirt & rust!!!

Thanks again,

Gary
