I RECENTLY PURCHASED AN OLD ALLIS CHALMERS TRACTOR. IT HAS A CRANK START, THREE FORWARD SPEEDS AND ONE REVERSE. I HAVE BEEN ALL OVER THE MACHINE LOOKING FOR A MANUFACTURE DATE. I GOT INFORMATION OFF THE INTERNET ABOUT A LOCATION ON THE TRANSMISSION COVER THAT WILL YIELD THE INFORMATION I AM LOOKING FOR. SURE ENOUGH, THERE IS A STAMPING IN THIS LOCATION. IT READS: B.31202. HOW DO I DE-CODE THIS NUMBER??? I HAVENT FOUND ANY CONVERSION CHARTS ON LINE!

THANKS AARON. WHERE DOES ONE FIND THE REFERENCE YOU SPEAK OF? ONLY NEED THIS TO ORDER PARTS AND WANT TO GET THE RIGHT ONES FOR THE TRACTOR. GLAD TO KNOW IT IS A '39. RUNS GREAT BUT NEEDS WORK. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP !

I use the one on the other Allis Chalmers web site. I also have a couple of books that have serial numbers charts in them. There is also the one referenced here on the left of the screen. As for parts, really all anyone is going to need is the model. If anything changed, odds are the replacement is going to be a universal fit for all B's.

just go to the right of this page and look under "Research & Info. scroll down till you see "serial numbers". Great tractor, you'll love it. Bob
