Hi,

Any assistance on how to date an Allis B would be appreciated. Are there any casting daters/codes that will confirm date of manufacture.

Regards,

Barry

Should be a serial # stamped on a flat spot just in front on the stifting lever on the transmission housing, Will start with B. Post that and will be able to date it for you.

Just forward of the shifter should be stamped the serial number and if a true B will start with B followed by a few numbers. That is the serial number. Then you go to the right of this page and look in research and info then serial numbers then AC then B and see where that number fit into the list of numbers listed

To further pin it down, take the valve cover off and look at the bottom of the cavities in the head , there will be a head casting date. So if you know it to be a 1942 and the casting date is 6-25-42 you will know that the tractor was made in the last half of the year. That assumes the head is still original.
