WC rear end.

Have another question for you guys. I might be fixing up a 1945 styled WC for a antique tractor puller. Putting a 226 in it pulling in low gear 1800 rpms. with 13.6x 38 tires. 3 1/2MPH. Question is will it benifit me to put an RC ring and pinion in it or will my WC work ok. Have heard posts on here talking about the RC switch. Does it create more torque or speed? Not building a real hot rod but want to do it right. How available are these RC ring and pinions? Thanks for all your help. The Allis forum in great.

The RC rear ends will be harder to find then a WC rear end. The RC was an under HP tractor so it did not go over well and so did not last long in production

Ring/pinion from an RC will fit in a WC pumpkin. It gives you a slower speed. 1939-1941, there were 5500 RC tractors made. vs about 170,000 WC tractors made, 1934-1948. I"ve never been impressed with pullers, butchering a good/especially rare tractor for a couple of gears. No way I"ll let either of my two RC"s go to a puller.

Couldn't agree more.

Are there no 'modern' or 'automotive' equivalents that cross over?
I have a styled WC with a D-17 transplant with roller rockers and a MSD ignition, I ported and polished the head and I am running 16.9 x 38 full cut tires.
(the tire were free, so i am stuck pulling Modified)
The only way I get any distance is to pull on a track that is loose and sandy.
I do not have the $$$$ to build my stroker yet, a gear swap would be cheaper and beneficial till I can build a big motor.

Seems like I torqued some of you off? Sorry for that. I would never tear a restored tractor of any color down just for a part. I love and own nice restored tractors myself. Was not asking for anyone to do that. Did not know the RC was that rare. All pullers are not scavengers though. We around here fix them up enough just to have fun. They look factory. We have had more tractors taken from the fence line and rebuilt by guys just to participate in antique tractor pulls, so I think that is worth something seeing them all painted up and running representing all brands rather than rusting away in the trees. Some of us like to look at the tractors, some like to drive them in parades, some like to use them and some like to pull them. Thanks for all comments and have a good day.
